The Wee Hours Scottish Bakery operates theweehour.com. This policy explains how we collect, use, and share personal information when you browse our store, place an order, subscribe to our newsletter, or contact us.

Information we collect and why

  • Orders: We collect contact, billing, shipping, payment-related, and order information to process purchases, arrange fulfillment, communicate with you, maintain records, and help prevent fraud. Our store and checkout are provided through Shopify.
  • Customer support: We receive your name, email address, phone number if supplied, and the contents of your message, including order details you provide. We use this information to respond and resolve questions. We use Microsoft Outlook for customer-support email. Our website contact form uses Shopify and displays hCaptcha protection.
  • Catering inquiries: We use Microsoft Forms to collect and retain catering inquiries, including contact information and event details you submit. We use these details to discuss availability, requirements, and quotes. Please only include dietary or other personal details needed for your inquiry.
  • Newsletters: We use Mailchimp for newsletters. When you subscribe, your email address and any subscription details you provide are used to manage your subscription and send newsletters. You can unsubscribe using the link in a newsletter or by contacting us.
  • Website use: Our website uses cookies, tags, and similar technologies that can collect device and browser information, IP addresses, pages viewed, referral information, and interactions with our site. We use Google Analytics to understand website use and Google Ads and Meta/Facebook ads for advertising and measurement.

Services and sharing

We use Shopify to operate the store; Google Analytics, Google Ads, and Meta/Facebook for analytics and advertising; Mailchimp for newsletters; Microsoft Outlook for support email; and Microsoft Forms for catering inquiries. These providers process information in connection with their services. We may also disclose information when necessary to fulfill orders, comply with applicable law, respond to lawful requests, or protect our rights.

We do not use Shopify Audiences and do not upload customer email lists to Google Ads or Meta/Facebook. This does not mean that no information reaches advertising providers: website tags and similar technologies can share browsing or interaction data with them.

Cookies, analytics, and advertising choices

Cookies and similar technologies support store functions, analytics, and advertising. Some are used during a browsing session; others remain until they expire or are deleted. Their duration varies by service and configuration.

You can manage cookies through your browser settings. Blocking cookies may affect parts of the store. Google provides information about how it uses information from sites that use its services, advertising preferences, and the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on. You can also manage advertising preferences through your Facebook account settings. Provider controls may affect only that provider or the browser or account where they are used.

Depending on applicable law and how advertising tools are configured, disclosure of information through advertising technologies may be considered a sale, sharing, or processing for targeted advertising. Retention

We do not currently have a fixed deletion schedule for customer records or catering inquiries. Records may remain in our store, email, or inquiry systems without a predetermined deletion date. You may contact us to request deletion. Applicable legal, accounting, fraud-prevention, or dispute-related requirements may limit what can be deleted.

Your privacy requests

Depending on where you live and the laws that apply, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or obtain a copy of your personal information, and to opt out of certain advertising-related processing. Where applicable, you may use an authorized agent or raise a complaint with your local privacy regulator.
