Chef John Mackenzie shares his Scottish heritage and lifelong love of desserts with San Diego through the Wee Hours Bakery. Most of his recipes have been passed down to him by his grandmother.
John has been a professional chef for over 18 years and has specialized in British, French, and American comfort cuisines. He grew up on the Isle of Skye, which is a rugged island within the breathtaking highlands of Scotland's west coast. After meeting his wife, Kussy, John relocated to San Diego where they now live with their two children. He founded the Wee Hours Bakery hoping to take locals on a journey to experience authentic Scottish desserts that combine comfort and elegance.
